Thinking on the subject of war, I’ve always been fascinated by how humans can possibly harbor so much hatred within themselves to destroy the lives of their own kind. We’re all humans. Why are we trying to eliminate our own species? I do not understand why it’s so difficult for us to just leave in peace with each other and respect everyone’s individuality. It’s like we get something meaningful out of getting to feel powerful for just a second by putting down a trait that might be what makes another person unique. In the subject of hatred, I always think about it in terms of religion especially. Religion is something that, very generally, tries to teach us to love God and love one another as we are all God’s children. This idea confuses me since religion is one of the main things that people use as a way to separate themselves from and close themselves off to different ways of life.
